Schertz 36th Annual Jubilee

That right, this year San Antonio TX and surrounding cities have a city-wide ban on Fireworks due to the drought.  No big deal though, Schertz TX will still celebrate America's birthday in style with their 36th Annual Jubilee from HEB at Pickrell Park.

Schertz, TX starts celebrating early this Friday on the 1st of July and events will continue through the 4th of July!  Who doesn't LOVE a carnival?!  Well, there will be one with a Ferris wheel, rollerCarnival coaster, games, prizes and all that other stuff that comes with carnivals.  Hours are 6pm-11pm July 1-3 and 10am-11pm on the 4th!

Every Birthday Party has to have Music!  Bands such as Airwave80'sThe Nick Lawrence BandMC & The Mystyx, Brandon Rhyder and bunches of others will be there to provide Jubilee goers some terrific musical entertainment throughout the four days!

The 4th really brings it all home with the Parade starting at 9:30 am and Opening Ceremonies at 12!  For those of you who love to BBQ there is a BBQ Rib Cook Off (click on the link to get the registration form) and for those who just love to Bake an Apple Pie Bake Off (click the link to get that registration form).  There's lots of other stuff going on with plenty of food and fun throughout the day.

But Brenda, there's no Fireworks!  Well Guess What?!  You all know we can't properly celebrate America's Birthday without a Show, So Schertz 36th Annual Jubilee will be bringing you Grumpy's Star Spangled Laser Spectacular starting around 9ish or when it gets dark! That is sure to be cool and no worries about starting TX on Fire!

Brenda, Sounds like a laser show is the next best thing to fireworks, and plenty of reasons for folks to enjoy the holiday!

Hi Bliz-If we can't have fireworks, the next best thing is a Laser Show!  Thanks for stopping by and visiting!

Hi Brenda, Excellent Job on getting the Word out about this weekend's celebration. I love your choice of colors and graphics too. I might come out for some Barbecue and Apple Pie.

Brenda we are not having any fireworks either, but it is for budgetary reasons.  Many of the the town around here taken fireworks out of their budget.

Hi Jerry-The Schertz 36th Annual Jubilee is sure to be a lot of fun!  There's a watermelon eating contest too!

Hi George-That's a shame.  We can't have em because apparently Fireworks can cause Fires :)!  We've had enough of those lately.

Thanks for dropping by!

Hi Brenda!   Looks like lots going on!    I hope you get a chance to have some fun and get in on that watermelon eating contest!    Cal

Since we're not in a drought here in the Pacific NW, we'll have them.  But I like the LASER show idea!!  Just being able to "ohhh and awe" is what's fun!!  My dogs would LOVE if they banned fireworks.  They get so skittish and it's hard for me to watch them so panicked.  Well, enough about my dogs  . . . the carnival sounds fun and the laser light show is a GREAT alternative.

Hi Brenda,

Sounds like a great time even without the fireworks. All counties surrounding Houston other than Galveston have banned Fireworks due to the drought but they are letting organized displays like at the mall set off the fireworks. All the fireworks stands here are not opened. Good post.. Thanks for sharing..

Hi Carol Ann-Fun I will have, but no watermelon eating contest for me :)!

Hi Carla-A laser show is a great alternative and it will be quieter for our animals who don't "get" the whole fireworks thing.

Hi Robert-Yep, they've bannee em all over Texas.  I think you can still go see fireworks in Kerrville and Corpus Christi which is still pretty close to here.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting all :)!

Brenda I am so glad to hear that the city of San Antonio is taking a stand against fireworks during the drought.  I briefly heard on the radion this morning that the Police Chief will be stepping up manpower to enforce laws regarding fireworks here too.  It's still going to be a good, but controlled 4th of July EVERYWHERE.

Brenda, Happy Independence day. I have a sister, nephew and niece in the area. You make me wish I were THERE.

Hi Charita-There are so many states that are in a fire danger with a ban on fireworks.  Look like it's gonna be laser shows everywhere :)!

Hi Suzi-Thank you.  You should visit your sister :)!

Happy 4th all!

Even though we live in a well-defined high fire hazard area, canceling fireworks is something that just isn’t going to happen, although we’ve had a ban on individual fireworks for many years. That ban has caused the public displays to get bigger and better and longer each year. Some areas have tried to cancel fireworks because of budget deficits, but as soon as they announce the end of their public fireworks shows, some anonymous donor comes forward with money to subsidize the shows.

HI Russel-Well, they canceled em here.  Nary a firework anywhere in San Antonio, TX.  The fire danger was just considered to great.  I can see someone stepping up if it was a budget deficit, but not the case here.  Had lots of laser shows though :)!  Happy belated 4th and thanks for visiting!

Fireworks look beautiful, but I'm not a fan of sounds... I was walking a dog today and some teens were throwing small  firecrackers...sounded like gun shots...
