Pay it Forward-Soldier Ride-A Wounded Warrior Project

Pay it Forward-Soldier Ride-A Wounded Warrior Project

I have not done a lot of pay it forward posts, although I have joined the group.  It is not that I don't give of myself, or donate to a cause often enough, it's just that well...sometimes I can't find anything significant enough to write about on a weekly basis.

Well, this week I did.  I was given the opportunity to donate to a very worthy cause called Soldier Ride in which a friend of mine, Virginia Williams, a retired Army Warrant Officer and avid bicyclist will be riding in to honor friends of hers that were wounded in action during the war.  As many of you know, I am a retired Army medic and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF 1) in 2004 as well as my husband who has been twice, so to say that I support any cause that supports and helps Wounded Warriors is an understatement.

Soldier Ride a Wounded Warrior Project provides adaptive cycling opportunities for Wounded Warriors to participate in to help with their emotional and physical healing.  It is not only open to Wounded Warriors, but to everyone who would like to show their support and cycle alongside the Wounded Warriors to show their support.  The Soldier Ride brings people together and creates a bond that often times Soldiers felt they left on the battlefield.

This year my friend Virginia will be participating in the Soldier Ride in Phoenix Arizona on October 22nd, 2011.  Although I won't be able to join her and ride along with the Wounded Warriors, I was able to donate $100 to bring her closer to her fundraising goal.  I believe this is a very worthy cause to donate to so am adding the link if you would like to donate as well (just click on the picture below this paragraph).  Donating to the Wounded Warrior Project enables them to provide much needed assistance to Wounded Warriors and their families with the many adversities and difficulties they face when they come home from war.
