Why would you want a 3 Story Home?

I decided to put a search up for those buyers looking for multiple stories (more than 2) in their quest for homes in the area mainly because there are many who are moving to here who are looking for a Homes for Sale in San Antonio with 3 StoriesSan Antonio TX Home for Sale with a Basement.

I am sorry to say, there are no homes for sale in the San Antonio TX area with basements, well, there might be one or two out there that I don't know about, but for the most part, we don't have those here.

Why don't San Antonio TX homes have basements?  

There are a couple of reasons San Antonio TX homes aren't built with basements.  I believe the biggest reason is our ground is mostly clay and it tends to shrink and swell a lot due to moisture and drought seasons.  This can cause a lot of havoc to structures underground that are made of concrete as one could imagine, (since our ground shrinks and swells it puts pressure on certain structures and cracks them..not good news for basements I'm thinking).  

It's hard enough for builders to get the foundation right so it doesn't go all caterwonky and they do a heck of a job.  I am positive there are more technical ways to explain this, but that's the nuts and bolts of it.  I do believe that you can have a home built with a basement, but it can be mighty expensive!

Most of us don't mind that there aren't any basements here.   We aren't too worried here in the San Antonio TX area about tornadoes (although we get warnings every now and again..rare).  So, in order to maximize on extra space a basement may provide, like a man cave, we tend to have many homes with game rooms or loft areas.  

There are some homes that are built up so that we have what's called a Texas Basement.  It's really just a ground floor room that walks out into the back yard with the main home being above that.  It's just not underground.  

Builders can be pretty ingenious in my opinion.  Another way to get that space that a basement would provide is to buy a home in the San Antonio TX area with at least three stories.  I am sure there's lots to do with that kind of space.
